Welcome back with another post. As we all are aware that now a days, most of the companies are asking to install Microsoft Authenticator App on your mobile to access company mails and other stuffs. Sometimes, what happens is that either we have to change our mobile phone or the mobile phone is lost or we have formatted our phone or any other instance, where Authenticator App got uninstalled from the device. Now, here, the issue starts occurring. When we try to login to the company mailbox or any other application, it ask to open the Authenticator app. But the app is already uninstalled. Now, if we try to reinstall the app, what happens is that, being the app is already registered with our account, so, during installation, it asks for open the Authenticator app to provide the code. This creates a panic situation. Without code, we are unable to install the Authenticator app on our mobile. So, What is the solution?
Here, is the solution. Let's start-
- Login to https://myapps.microsoft.com/ on your office laptop / desktop.
- Once login, it will show a dropdown "My Apps". Click on this dropdown.
- Choose "My Account".
- It will show you several option in left tree view. Click on "Devices".
- Clicking on "Devices", shows all the devices linked to Authenticator App.
- There could be Active / Inactive devices. Even the In-Active device needs to be disabled.
- Click on the device, you want to disable.
- It will show you the details of that device along with a button "Disable lost device".
- Click on that button to disable the device. Remember, once disabled, it can be enabled again by admin only.
- This way, you can disable the other devices. Now, you may install the Microsoft Authenticator App. It will get installed properly and start using it.
- Additional Info:- There is another option called "Security Info" in left tree view. It shows the default sign-in method (2-factor authentication). You may add additional sign-in method as well. If your phone is the default sign-in method and you had lost your phone, then you may come here to signout from everywhere to prevent unauthorized use.
With this, I am concluding this post.
Happy Coding !!!
Will see you again with some new topics.
